slender moa

noun1

1. •
(old-fashioned) A formerly posited species of giant moa, now considered to be synonymous with the North Island giant moa, Dinornis novaezealandiae.

   • A clue to the appearance of the slender moa may be provided by deep pits on the tops of some skulls, perhaps an indication that one of the sexes carried a crest. — 2000
